Vacancies – Join the Maresca Lab
Expanding the Frontiers of Ultrasound Imaging Science
What if we could peer into living biological tissues, harmlessly, and understand biology from the level of organs down to the level of cells?
At the Maresca Lab, we work on exactly that challenge. We develop ultrasound-based technologies that allow us to observe biology across scales and time, with cellular precision. By combining physics and bioengineering, we aim to open new windows into how life organizes itself. We are grateful and excited that this vision is supported through several major national and international grants enabling us to further grow our team and impact.
How to connect? If you are excited by the idea of building new ways to observe life and want to contribute to an ambitious but supportive research environment, we would be happy to hear from you. You are welcome to connect with David Maresca via LinkedIn, current open positions can be found here.
Please note that, due to privacy regulations and time constraints, we can only process applications submitted through our official online vacancy form.

About the lab
The Maresca Lab is part of the Imaging Physics department at TU Delft. We are a growing, interdisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and biomedical researchers working at the frontier of ultrasound imaging.
We work closely with partners in Europe, Japan, and the United States, forming a global network at the forefront of ultrasound neuroimaging and bioengineering.
Despite our ambition, we keep a down-to-earth and supportive culture. We value curiosity, openness, and people who enjoy working together on difficult problems.
How we work
We believe that impactful research comes from:
-
Curiosity-driven questions with real-world relevance
-
Close collaboration across disciplines and borders
-
Building things, from experimental setups to algorithms
-
Ownership and independence at every career stage
You will be encouraged to develop your own ideas, contribute to publications and grants, and grow into the next step of your career, whether in academia or beyond.
Who we are looking for
We are not looking for a single “type” of candidate.
You might be a good fit if you:
-
Enjoy solving complex, open-ended problems
-
Like working across disciplines
-
Are comfortable building, testing, and iterating
-
Value collaboration and clear communication
-
Are motivated by understanding how biology works
Different roles require different expertise (e.g., physics, engineering, computation, biology), but a shared mindset matters most.
Why join the Maresca Lab?
-
Work on fundamental scientific challenges with real impact
-
Be part of a rapidly growing, well-funded lab
-
Collaborate in an international research network
-
Access state-of-the-art facilities at TU Delft
-
Develop your independence, profile, and leadership
